THE STORY OF TERRA SARDA

Lots of good food, a little too much wine… or ‘How it all began’

Terra Sarda Tours was founded by a native Sardinian and an English food journalist who’d fallen in love with the island, its people and its culture of long lunches - made using the freshest and most flavourful ingredients grown by the islanders who’d so lovingly prepared and served them. Candido and Sue wanted to share their experience of the Sardinians’ special hospitality, their history and heart-stoppingly beautiful landscape by giving others a privileged introduction to the people they knew.

OUR TOURS

Groups of no more than 10 guests are personally hosted by locals and every tour has food and drink – its production, preparation and not forgetting the all-important consumption! – at its core.

Beyond that, each tour can be customised to a special theme. So you can choose to experience, for example, wildlife and walking, culture and history, or completely immerse yourself in the island’s food and drink by taking part in your own private ‘Cortes Apertas’ – when the generous Sardinians throw open their kitchens and their cellars to reveal their secrets.

They will show you how they harvest and handle ingredients, teach you to make Sardinian specialities and invite you to help them prepare a meal before sitting down to eat with you.

Our tours only run outside of the normal tourist season. Not only is it less hot (Sardinian summers can be scorching), but from late September to early May is when the countryside is at its most beautiful and bountiful.
